Srinagar/March 24:- Chairman People’s Democratic Front ( PDF) Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen has described improving relations between two neighbouring countries of India and Pakistan as a good omen for peace in South Asia especially in trouble torn Jammu and Kashmir .
In a statement issued on Wednesday Hakeem  said that cordial and friendly relations between the two neighbouring countries was imperative to remove poverty and bringing peace in the region . ”  It  took about 6 years to understand Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s vision that friends can be changed but neighbours not ” Hakeem observed while asserting that ‘  better late than never ‘ . He hoped that both the neighbouring countries would immediately initiate a comprehensive process for dialogue and reconciliation to solve all the outstanding issues including vexed Kashmir problem amicably. He said leadership of both the neighbouring countries should understand that war was no solution to any problem. He said every one knows that India and Pakistan has fought three wars in past but yielded nothing except death and destruction of lives and properties.
PDF Chairman said that recent  statements about peace and cordial relations emanating from the leadership of both India and Pakistan since  were very encouraging and appreciable which have generated a ray of hope for return of peace and tranquility among the peace loving people of both the countries especially among the people of Jammu and Kashmir who are the first casualty of animosity  between the two neighbouring countries.
Pertinent to mention that On Tuesday, Aftab Hasan Khan, Charge d’ Affairs, Pakistan High Commission had on said his country ( Pakistan) wants good neighbourly relations, especially with India and wants to solve all bilateral issues  through negotiations and dialogue, especially Kashmir. “I would like to emphasis that peace and stability in this region are essential for the development of all the countries. Pakistan would like to have good neighbourly relations with all its neighbours especially India for durable peace and stability, it is essential that we solve all bilateral issues with negotiations “.  Later  in a positive note,  Prime Minister of India Narender Modi has  recently wrote a letter to his Pakistani counterpart Imran Khan wherein he said that India desires cordial relations with Pakistan but an atmosphere of trust, devoid of terror and hostility, is “imperative” for it.
Hakeem  described the developments as  good omen for return of peace and tranquility in the region adding that after developing friendly relations both the countries could spend their huge defence budgets on the welfare and progress of their  people .
