Jammu: National Conference OBC Cell Vice Chairman Abdul Gani Teli Monday called for effective implementation of the schemes tailored for upliftment of the weaker sections of the people, saying lackadaisical approach by the administration has added to the miseries of these segments across Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing workers at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan here, Teli also sought representation to these segments in the corporation set up for their empowerment.Teli described socio-economic empowerment of weaker sections as key harmonious growth of the society, adding that a level playing field is to ensured for their progress and prosperity. Onus for this lies with the administration that as to redouble efforts in achieving this objective, he added.
Teli also expressed concern over the slow pace of development, adding that the momentum generated during successive National Conference governments is totally missing. In such a scenario, it is incumbent upon the administration to take steps for assuaging aspirations of the people and undertaking development on a massive scale. He lamented over the governance deficit of the past few years, saying the lust for power by divisive forces is mainly responsible for such a deplorable scenario.
The Vice Chairman said that National Conference alone holds promise for the future of Ammu and Kashmir in terms of development and satiating political and economic aspirations of all the segments of the society, irrespective of region, religion, caste and colour.
Exhorting the people to strengthen National Conference at the grass roots level, Mr Teli urged the workers to fan out in their areas and help the masses in getting their grievances redressed.
