GDC Kishtwar hosts National seminar cum workshop on “Avenues for generating self employment”

Kishtwar: Training and Placement Cell, Government Degree College (GDC) Kishtwar Monday organized one day National seminar cum workshop on “Avenues for generating self employment” under Manodarpan initiative here in collaboration with SBI-Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI).
The programme was held under the patronage of College Principal, Prof Anirudh Sharma, who was the chief guest and Lead District Manager, Nasir Ahmed Bhat was the Guest of Honour.
In his inaugural address, Prof. Anirudh Sharma listed various self employment initiatives of Government and higher education department. He said that department of Higher education has started skill courses in colleges which will go a long way in nurturing the talent of the youth in the right direction and make them job creators and not job seekers.
Prof. Faisal Mushtaq, head department of Botany, spoke on Mushroom cultivation as an avenue for self employment. He also screened a video documentary based on mushroom cultivation.
Prof. M M Matoo delivered his talk on Skill India Initiative and its importance. He shared some facts and figures on how population rate and unemployment is growing in India and how skill generation can meet the challenge of unemployment in India.
He also talked about the idea behind Atma Nirbhar Bharat and Skill India Mission.
Senior faculty SBI-RSETI talked about role of the institution in promotion of self employment and various avenues in which training is imparted at RSETI.
Dr. Madhu Bala, Head Department of Commerce deliberated on entrepreneurship and economic development. She stressed upon the participants to look for avenues like, tourism, transportation, services and others for self employment. Local entrepreneur Miss Nidhi shared her success story with the participants.
Valedictory speech was delivered by Nasir Hussain Bhat, Guest of honour of the event.
Earlier, the programme began with welcome address by Dr. Zahoor Ahmed Wani. He deliberated upon the programme schedule of the event
Later, Local entrepreneurs/resource persons were felicitated with certificates and momentos. The programme culminated with vote of thanks by Prof. Sonika Sen.
