Handloom Deptt hosts awareness camp at village Jakhed

Udhampur:To generate awareness among the local Weavers/Artisans about the developmental schemes run by the department for their socio economic upliftment, one day publicity cum awareness camp was Friday organized by Handloom Development Department here at village Jakhed of district Udhampur.
Block Development Chairman, Latti- Marothi, Darshan Kumar was the chief guest on the occasion.
Over 200 weavers/Artisan, Sarpanchs, panches and general public of adjoining areas participated in the awareness camp.
Assistant Director Handloom, Narsingh Dayal Verma informed the participants about various developmental schemes run by the department for weavers and artisan community. He asked the weavers and Artisans to avail the benefits of the schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Weavers Mudra scheme, Credit card scheme, Education scheme, Loan for purchase/renovation/ modernization of looms, Share capital loan, Formation of cooperative societies, etc.
He further stressed that the weavers should adopt new technology and develop new design by replacing the old type of pit looms to modern fly shuttle looms so that the quality of products and their earning is improved. During the camp weaver cards and certificates also distributed to the weavers and artisans on the occasion.
Among others, Tehsildar Latti, BDO Latti, Naib Tehsildar Dudu, J&K Bank Branch Manager, Latti and Dudu besides a large number of people participated in the awareness camp with great enthusiasm.
