Hit and run case solved within hours in Kulgam, accused arrested: Police

Kulgam: Police in Kulgam on Thursday said that it solved a hit and run case within hours and arrested the accused.
A police statement issued on Thursday said “ Police Station Qazigund received an information that SO Traffic Bonigam, ASI Mohd Shafi Bhat son of Mohd Ramzan Bhat resident of Nowgam Shangus Anantnag was hit by unknown truck at Bonigam resulting his on spot death after which the driver of the truck fled away from the spot along with vehicle”.
The police in the above referred statement further said that acting promptly, PS Qazigund constituted special teams to intercept the vehicle along with accused driver and a team led by SHO Qazigund after strenuous efforts intercepted the involved vehicle (truck) bearing registration number JK22B-4365 along with the accused driver from Choimulla area of Anantnag identified as Javid Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Nabi Bhat resident of Sangrama Sopore.
Stating that the driver was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody,the police in it’s statement said “vehicle involved in the crime has also been seized and a case FIR No. 51/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at PS Qazigund regarding the incident and further investigation of the case is in progress”.
