Hajin: Government Degree College, Hajin organized an extensive cum interactive session on the theme “State, Democracy and Education: A Case Study of Valley of Kashmir”. The session was chaired by the principal GDC, Hajin Prof Huda Galzai she also presented welcome address On 13/03/2021. The key note address was presented by Dr. Fayaz Ahmad Bhat , Post Doc Fellow at ICSSR New Delhi. He highlighted different theoretical and empirical aspects of the theme.
Prof Azra – Abidi faculty department of sociology Jamia millia ISlamia (Central University) New Delhi) delivered an extensive lecturer on the given theme. She gave brief about the ICSSR sponsored major research project and discussed the objectives and importance of the project in light of the New Education Policy draft, 2020. She highlighted the issues of women in acquiring higher education and challenges faced by student community. She deliberated upon the importance and relevance of education in establishing democratic societies. In the light of different sociological theories and debates she discussed the scope of education in mitigating the violence and building peace. The speaker also highlighted the importance of education from religious point of view and stressed upon the female children to come forward in the field.
The lecture was followed by question answer session. In the question answer session the students of the college asked questions and expressed their experiences. The faculty members of the college not only participated in the event but shared their experiences with the speaker.
