Drug peddler arrested in Kulgam , contraband substance recovered: Police

Srinagar: Police in Kulgam have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
A police statement issued on Friday said “under the supervision of SDPO DH Pora, officers from Police Station DH Pora laid a checkpoint in their jurisdiction and intercepted a person riding a Scooty bearing registration number PB08BV-2027 and identified him as Showkat Ahmad Ganie son of Abdul Ahad Ganie resident of Chimmer following which 50gms of Charas was recovered from his possession” , adding that “ the accused was later arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Scooty used in the commission of crime has also been seized”.
Stating that a case FIR No. 20/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station DH Pora and investigation has been initiated, police in the concluding para of the above referred statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood, warning that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law, stating therein that actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
