Srinagar: Condemning the assault on Trinimool Congress (TMC) chief and West Bengal (WB) chief minister Mamata Banerjee, National Conference (NC) president Dr Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Omar Abdullah expressed hope that Election Commission (EC) inquiry will get to the bottom of this incident.

Two former Chief Ministers said rough and tumble of election campaigns should not descend in to physical violence.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter Omar said, “My father joins me in condemning the assault on @MamataOfficial while campaigning. The rough & tumble of election campaigns should not descend in to physical violence & we hope the EC inquiry gets to the bottom of this.”
