Srinagar: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) solider allegedly committed suicide by shooting self with his service rifle in central Kashmir district of Budgam on Thursday.
Official sources said that panic gripped CRPF camp of 79th battalion in Budgam when security force personnel heard a gunshot early on Thursday morning. “Security force personnel rushed to the spot and saw a jawan, identified as Amar Joti, in a pool of blood,” they said.
They said the jawan was rushed to a hospital where he was declared brought dead. “It was not immediately clear why he took this extreme step,” they said, adding police has registered a case and initiated investigation to ascertain the circumstance which forced him to end this life.
“After completing all the legal and medical formalities, the body of the deceased will be sent to his native place in Kerala.
