3 drug peddlers arrested in Srinagar & Kulgam, Contraband substance recovered : Police

Srinagar: Police have arrested three drug peddlers in Srinagar & Kulgam and recovered contraband & psychotropic substances from their possession.
A police statement issued on Wednesday said “ ffficers from Police Station Soura at a checkpoint established at Hafiz Bagh Soura intercepted two persons riding a Scooty bearing registration number JK01AK-7854 and identified them as Umer Ahmad Dar@ Holder son of Manzoor Ahmad Dar resident of Umerhair Soura and Usman Najar son of Fayaz Ahmad Najar resident of Usmanabad but during checking, officers recovered cannabis which was kept in the boot-space of Scooty wrapped in polythene bags”, adding that “ both the accused were arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Scooty used in the commission of crime has also been seized”. Police in it’s statement also said that a case vide FIR No. 11/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Soura and further investigation has been taken up.
Stating that yet in another similar incident in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district officers from PP Mirbazar at a checkpoint established at Alstop board intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number DL26W-7754 with one person on board identified as Tariq Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammadd Maqbool Bhat resident of Khudwani Kulgam, police in the above referred statement said “officers recovered 12.5Kgs of Poppy Straw like substance and 33 bottles of illicit liquor from the possession of the accused who was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody”, stating therein that vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Stating that a case vide FIR No. 44/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Qazigund and further investigation into the case has been initiated, police in the concluding para of it’s above referred statement said that the accused was also involved in case FIR No. 09/2021 of PS Qazigund and was evading his arrest.
Police in it’s statement also appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood and warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law, stating therein that actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
2 notorious drug peddlers arrested in Budgam, Contraband substance recovered : Police
Srinagar: Police have arrested two notorious drug peddlers in Budgam and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
A police statement issued on Wednesday said “ officers from Police Station Khansahab at a checkpoint established at Khahipora Khanshab intercepted two persons identified as Mursheed Ahmed Shah son of Ghulam Mohidin Shah and Mohammed Alam Mir son of Ghulam Mohammed Mir both residents of Khanshab and recovered 11.5Kgs of Cannabis powder from their possession following which they were arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody”.
Stating that a case vide FIR No.27/2021 under relevant section of law has been registered at Police Station Khansahab and further investigation has been taken up, police in the concluding para of it’s statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood and warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law”, stating therein that actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
