Arrangements for Meraj ul Alam reviewed at B’pora

Bandipora: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Bandipora, Zahoor Ahmad Mir Saturday reviewed the arrangements being put in place for the celebration of upcoming Meraj ul Alam in the district.

On the occasion, ADC impressed upon all the concerned departments to ensure that their respective tasks are done with the highest degree of responsibility. He directed the PDD and the PHE to ensure adequate power and water supplies and install halogen lights at Ahamsharief shrine with a standby DG set for an emergency.

He also instructed for making provision of mobile water tankers as a backup at major congregation places including Ahem sharief.

The Assistant Regional Transport Officer was asked to ensure availability of adequate number of Busses/matadors for ferrying the devotees from Bandipora to Ahem Sharief and back on the day of Mehraj-ul-Alam and the following Friday. The Tehsildar and Bandipora Police shall identify the parking place for vehicles at Aham Sharief as per the past practice.

In view of the Covid-19 pandemic, ADC asked the members of Waqf Board Ahem Sharief to strictly follow the guidelines and take extra care to ensure social distancing and other measures to ensure safety of the pilgrims.

The Health Department was asked to set up medical camps at the locations of worship during the night long prayers of Mehraj. The Municipal Committees of Hajin, Sumbal and Bandipora were asked to ensure proper upkeep and cleanliness of major mosques, lanes, by-lanes and also at shrine complex at Aham sharief.

The meeting was attended   by Executive Engineers of PHE and PDD, Additional Superintendent of Police, Ashiq Hussain Tak, Chief Executive Officer Municipal Council Bandipora, District Information Officer Jahangeer Akhoon, President Traders Federation Bandipora Shamshaad Ahmad, Civil Society members and other senior officers of the district.
