2 drug peddlers arrested in Awantipora and Budgam; Contraband substance recovered: Police

Srinagar: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace the drugs from the society, Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Awantipora and Budgam & recovered contraband substance from their possession.
A police statement issued on Saturday said “officers at a checkpoint established near Petrol Pump Dahwatoo Awantipora intercepted one person identified as Bakhtawar Ahmad Makroo son of Abdul Rahim Makroo resident of Batpora Awantipora but during checking officers recovered 6 Kgs of Poppy Straw from his possession following which he was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody”. Police in it’s above referred statement said that a case vide FIR No. 30/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Awantipora and further investigation into the matter has been initiated, police
Police in the above referred statement said that in yet another similar incident officers from Police Station Magam at a checkpoint established at Mazhama intercepted one person identified as Asif Ahmed Dar son of Abdul Qayoom Dar resident of Dangarpora Rathsun but during checking, officers recovered 100 grams of Charas like substance from his possession.
Stating that he was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody, police in it’s statement said “ a case vide FIR No. 27/2021 under relevant sections law stands registered at Police Station Magam and further investigation into the case has been taken up”.
Police in the above referred statement also appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned the people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law, stating therein that actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
