Drug peddler arrested at Awantipora, contraband substance recovered: Police

Awantipora: Acting tough against the drug dealings, Police in Awantipora have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

A police statement issued on Friday said “officers at a checkpoint established at Pampore area intercepted one person identified as Mohammad Younis Masoodi resident of Baghender Pampore from whom 8 Kgs of Poppy were seized following which he was arrested and shifted to Police Station Pampore where he remains in custody”.
Stating that a case FIR No. 25/2020 under relevant sections of law has
been registered in Police Station Pampore and investigation has been
initiated, police in the above referred statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law, stating therein that actions against drug peddlers should reassure the
people that efforts are on to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
