Awantipora: Continuing its efforts to eradicate menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested a drug peddler in Awantipora and
recovered contraband substance from his possession.
A police statement issued on Thursday said “ Officers from Police Post Reshipora at a checkpoint established at Kawani Crossing Awantipora intercepted a suspicious person identified as Ghulam Qadir Malik resident of Tahab Pulwama and recovered 500gms of Charas from his possession following which he was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody”. Stating that a case FIR No. 29/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Awantipora and investigation into
the matter has been initiated, police in it’s statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found
indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law as consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken to reassure the people that efforts are on to keep society free
from the scourge of drug menace.
