Army jawan commits suicide by hanging self in Srinagar

Srinagar: An Army soldier reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself in the summer capital, Srinagar, on Thursday.
This is the second suicide by Army personnel during the last 24 hours in Srinagar city.
Official sources said that panic gripped Badami Bagh Cantonment in Srinagar, when a jawan was found hanging from the ceiling of his room on Thursday. “The jawan, identified as Anoop Kumar, was immediately taken to a hospital where he was declared brought dead,” they said.
“It was not immediately clear why he took this extreme step,” they said, adding police has registered a case and initiated investigation to ascertain the circumstances which forced him to end his life.
A senior Army officer, identified as Lt Colonel Sudeep Baghat Singh, committed suicide by shooting self with his service weapon in an Army camp at Khohmoh in the city outskirts on Wednesday.
The trend of taking extreme step among security forces engaged in counter insurgency operation has not stopped even after the authorities introduced Yoga and Art of Living to help them (security forces) to come out from the stress.
