Handwara: Can we call this a mismanagement or sheer injustice as the Rural Development Department (RDD) block Rajwar in Handwara town has issued SBM funds allegedly to some People without constructing the bathrooms under SBM scheme.
People of the area alleged the department has also released payment several times to influential people in Shahal village of Handwara, while as the deserving persons are yet to avail the benefits of the scheme.
A Resident of the area requested not be named told Kashmir Horizon that the department has issued SBM money to few people thrice and while as the deserving beneficiaries are still waiting for the payment. He said some blue eyed persons managed to withdraw money several times on the construction of single bathrooms.
“The people also said that the panchayat has issued Rs 20000 for the sports equipments to the local youth, however the sports equipments distributes to the youth is useless” they alleged.
The people of the area appealed Deputy Commissioner Kupwara to intervene in the matter and took strict action against those who are involved in the matter.
Meanwhile, Block Development Officer (BDO) Rjawar iqbal Nabi told Kashmir Horizon that he has received the single double payment complaint and he has recovered it from the concerned VLW. He also said he has joined this place six months back and since then no such case has reported.
He further said those who managed to get the double payments under SBM are having separate ration cards and said they only managed to get in earlier, since he has joined so such case has been reported.
