Srinagar: Awantipora Police have arrested 08 gamblers from a gambling site and seized ₹54,200/- stake money from their possession.
A police statement issued on Saturday said “a police party of Police Station Tral raided a gambling site at village Bajwani Kahlil Tral after following an input about gambling activities and apprehended 8 gamblers, stating therein that they have been identified as Javid Ahmad Khanday resident of Amlar Tral, Mohd Iqbal Shah resident of Tral-e-Payeen, Niyaz Ahmad Khan resident of Tral, Mohd Shafi Bhat resident of Parigam, Mohd Shafi Mir resident of Tral, Hamid Masroor resident of Tral, Mohd Iqbal Kumar resident of Amlar, Ghulam Nabi Dar resident of Noorpora.
Police in it’s statement further said “officers have seized playing cards and stake money of ₹54,200/- from their possession”, adding that “ the accused have been arrested and shifted to PS Tral where they remain in custody”.
Stating that a case FIR No. 11/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Tral and investigation has been initiated, police in the concluding para of it’s statement appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
