Kupwara: The Deputy Commissioner (DC), Kupwara, Imam Din Thursday convened a meeting of concerned Revenue Officers and Beacon Authorities, to review the progress of land acquisition for newly declared National Highway (NH), 701 from Baramulla to Chamkote Tangdhar, here.
It was given out that the NH connects Baramulla, Rafiaabad, Kupwara, Chowkibal and Chamkote Tanghar and has 5 Bypass roads in Baramulla and 4 bypasses in Kupwara district. These include bypass Kupwara, Trehgam, Kralpora and Chowkibal.
The meeting discussed threadbare various issues and measures to ensure smooth and conflict free land acquisition in Kupwara district.
The DC directed the concerned officers to ensure exclusive joint inspection before erecting pegs at proposed sites. He asked officers to keep close coordination and work in tandem so that the project of national importance could be completed within the target period and the people of the far off Kupwara district could get benefits of the greater communication facilities.
He asked Beacon Authorities to take care of roads under their control and ensure that there should be no encroachment of roads in the district. He also assured full support from district Administration, by way of providing Magistrates with police back up, wherever necessary.
Among others, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Commanding Officer, Beacon, District Information Officer Kupwara, Tehsildar Kralpora and other concerned attended the meeting.
