Budgam,Shopian/Feb,19: Three militants and a policeman were on Friday killed in two separate gunfights in South Kashmir Shopian district and Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
Government forces launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of militants in Zanigam village of the Beerwah area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district but soon after the launch of the cordon and search operation hiding militants fired upon forces personnel triggering a gunfight, officials said, adding that “two policemen were injured in the gun battle and rushed to a hospital here for treatment but one of them succumbed to injuries.
In yet another gunfight in Badigam village of South Kashmir’s Shopian district, government forces killed three militants , officials said, adding that “the identity and group affiliation of the slain militants is yet to be ascertained”.
