B’Pora: In order to raise awareness among youth of Bandipora about Drug Abuse and to inculcate the message of ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat’, a high altitude Bike Rally was organised today at Bandipora by District Administration Bandipora and Legend Riders Club Bandipora. The rally witnessed massive participation and it has been a major step in raising awareness among youth and public at large to stay away from Drugs.
Sensing its importance the Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmed, along with SSP Bandipora participated in the rally and led the mission from the front.
The rally started from mini-secretariat complex Bandipore and culminated at Sumbal. In between sweets and more than 6000 pamphlets and stickers with a message about drug abuse were distributed on many contact points while interacting with youth.
The DC Bandipora, Dr Owais emphasized that youth are a big asset to our nation and they should respect previous gift of life and never misuse it by deviating from the right path towards social evils. He emphasised that drugs are silent killers that ruin the society as a whole and that youth should take responsibility towards their society by involving themselves in positive social and physical activities. He also encouraged youth of Bandipora to form youth clubs which are being supported by District Administration Bandipora so that the youth of Bandipora can pursue their hobbies while spreading a message of social importance.
President Legend Riders Club, Suhail Rather said the rally was organised to create awareness against drug abuse. He said fighting drug menace is the collective responsibility of all including the government and the people as it concerns everybody. He said the drug abuse is silently destroying the lives of thousands of youths across the valley and has disturbed our social fabric. He said it is high time for all of us to unequivocally rise as one against this menace and fight. He urged the people to report about such practices quickly to the concerned law enforcing agencies so that preventive measures are taken.
ADC Bandipora Zahoor Ahmad Mir and SDM Sumbal Dr Bashir Ahmad received the rally at Irrigation Colony Sumbal and welcomed them besides providing refreshment to the participants. A large gathering of people had also assembled to welcome the bikers in their town.
Among others Joint Director planning, Imtiyaz Ahmad also drove along DC and SSP. He on behalf of District Administration expressed gratitude to Legendary Bikers club, Information Department, Transport Department, District Police Bandipora, Municipal Council Bandipora and other departments for collaborating towards a successful rally.
