4 drug peddlers arrested in Srinagar, contraband substances recovered: Police

Srinagar: Continuing its efforts to eradicate menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested four drug peddlers in Srinagar and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police statement issued on Wednesday said “officers from Police Station Shergarhi on a checkpoint established at Dogerpatti Haft-Chinar intercepted a vehicle (Alto) bearing registration No. JK02W-0560 with two persons on board identified as Adil Rashid Bhat resident of Usman Abad Bemina and Naveed Anjum Khan resident of Watal Kadal Safakadal”.
Stating that during checking, officers were recovered 24 Small green colour cut polythene contain 12 grams of Heroin from their possession, police in it’s statement further said “ officers also seized cash amount of ₹6270 from the accuse who have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody”, adding that “ vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized. Accordingly, a case FIR No. 08/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Shergarhi and investigation has been initiated”.
Police in it’s statement also said “in another similar incident officers from Police Station Nowhatta during patrolling/checking intercepted a vehicle (Ford Flesta) bearing registration No. JK01R-3247 with two persons on board identified as Saqib Latief Daga resident of Mahraj Gunj Urdu Bazar Srinagar and Abar Altaf Misgar resident of Tanki Mohalla Jamia Masjid Nowhatta”. Stating that during checking, officers recovered 24 grams of white colour powder Heroin from their possession and were arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody, police in it’s statement further said “vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized. Accordingly, a case FIR No. 06/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Nowhatta and investigation has been initiated”.
Police in the concluding of it’s statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law, stating therein that action against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
