Srinagar: Acting tough against the drug dealings, Police in Srinagar have arrested a drug peddler and recovered psychotropic substance from his possession.
A police statement issued on Monday said “officers during patrolling in the J/D of PS Nowhatta intercepted a vehicle (Honda Amaze) bearing registration number JK01V-5075 with one person on board identified as Muneer Ahmad Bhat resident of Mominabad Batamaloo Srinagar, adding that “during checking, officers were able to recover psychotropic substance (05 Coughrex codeine phosphate bottles) from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody”.
Stating that a case vide FIR No. 05/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Nowhatta and further investigation into the matter has been initiated, the police in the concluding para of it’s statement also appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
Police in the above referred statement also said that actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace as promising in community police meetings.
