Ang: The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Anantnag, Ghulam Hassan Sheikh Friday received the first shot of Covid-19 vaccination at SDH Shangus while leading a group of 30 officials for vaccination drive.
Speaking on the occasion, the ADC said over 6000 health and front line officials stand already vaccinated in the district. He said the administration has established 45 cold chain centers where the target groups are administered vaccination through well trained vaccinators on a regular basis.
He said the officials of Revenue, Police and Municipalities, who have been registered on CO-WIN portal, are being vaccinated in the first phase. He added that a total of 22000 such officials stand registered on the portal that shall undergo vaccination within next 10 days.
The ADC said the administration is focusing on augmenting vaccination sites for readying the infrastructure for larger drives in future.
He said Covid-19 vaccines are absolutely safe, adding that even not a single instance of side effects has been reported from anywhere in the district.
He called for adopting a rational and scientific approach to overcome misgivings regarding the vaccine. We should respect the good work of scientists and doctors, besides all leading doctors of the district have received the vaccination, which lends credence to the fact that the vaccine is cent percent safe, he added.
Meanwhile, the ADC had a brief overview of the functioning of SDH Shangus, wherein BMO Shangus informed that the hospital is working smoothly.
