Agriculture Exhibition cum Kissan Mela held at Doda

Doda: One day Agriculture Exhibition cum Kissan Mela under Sub Mission on Agriculture Extension (ATMA) was organized by Department of Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare, here Thursday.
The programme was inaugurated by District Development Council (DDC) Chairman, Dhananter Singh Kotwal in presence of vice chairman Sangeeta Rani.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kishori Lal, Scientist KVK Doda, Head RHRSS Bhaderwah, Members of DDC, Chairmen of BDCs and members J&K Kissan Advisory Board and more than 600 farmers hailing from different villages of the District were present on the occasion.
Chief Agriculture Officer, Mukesh Khajuria welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of the event in context of bringing about the transformation in the agriculture sector.
The DDC Chairman, Dhananter Singh Kotwal, while speaking on the occasion, urged upon the farmers to come forward and avail the benefits of schemes being implemented by the government of India through agriculture and allied departments. He asked for conducting similar events frequently for uplift of the farming sector.
Member J&K Farmer Advisory Board, Hind Bhushan also spoke on the occasion and lauded the efforts of the department in mobilizing the farmers of the district.
DAO (Extension), Dr. Rakesh Khajuria apprised the participants about different centrally sponsored schemes being implemented by the department for welfare of the farmers.
An exhibition was also held on the ocassion displaying different implements and technologies for agriculture and allied activities. The Chief Guest also inspected the exhibition stalls and interacted with the staff and farmers.
He was apprised about mushroom production, protected cultivation, fisheries, agriculture implements and others technologies displayed during the programme.
Dr. Vinay Jandal, Haroon Bhat, Dr Adil Rashid, Shammi Kotwal, SDAO Thathri, Kuldeep Kumar SDAO Pranoo, Winkal Wazir organized the event.
The programme ended with the vote of thanks by Alyas Akhtar Gatoo, ASCO Doda.
