5 drug peddlers arrested in Kulgam and Budgam, Contraband substances recovered: Police

Kulgam, Budgam : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested five drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession in Kulgam & Budgam.
A police statement issued on Thursday said “officers at a checkpoint established near Alstop intercepted a vehicle (Truck) bearing registration No. JK14A-9455 with two persons on board identified as Mohinder Singh and Harpal Singh both residents of RS Pora Jammu and recovered from them 1.5Kg of Poppy straw from their possession.”
The police in it’s statement further said that officers in yet another offensive against drug peddlers intercepted a suspicious person again at Alstop checkpoint identified as Reyaz Ahmad Dar resident of Harnag search and recovered from him 100grams of Charas. Stating that all the three accused persons have been arrested and shifted to PS Qazigund where they remain in custody, the police in it’s statement said “cases vide FIR numbers 25/2021 and 26/2021 under relevant section of law have been registered at PS Qazigund and further investigation have been taken up”.
Revealing that in Budgam district also, officers at a checkpoint established near Hyderpora Budgam intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JKO1X-6788 with two persons on board identified as Taufeeq Ahmed Bhat @Raja resident of Tangpora Batamallo and Javiad Ahmed Dar resident of Ompora Budgam and recovered from them psychotropic substance (15 bottle of Codine Phosphate and 225 Tablets of Alprazolam) from their possession, police in it’s statement said “ the accused have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Budgam where they remain in custody”.
Police in the concluding para of it’s statement said that vehicles used in the commission of crime have also been seized and appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood with a warning that found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
