4 drug peddlers arrested in Budgam and Bandipora, contraband substances recovered: Police

Budgam, B’Pora: Acting tough against the drug dealings, Police in Budgam and Bandipora have arrested four drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In Budgam, officers at checkpoints established at Sebdan bridge intercepted three suspicious individuals identified as Muzamil Ahmed Khan, Mukhtar Ahmed Wani both residents of Bathar Budgam and Rafi Ahmed Dar resident of Naidgam Soibugh. During checking, officers were able to recover 10grams of Heroin, 02 litres of Codeine Phosphate and 74 Tablets of Alprazolam from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Case FIR No.28/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Budgam and investigation has been initiated.
In Bandipora, Based on specific information a police party from Police Post Nowgam headed by DO Nowgam established a checkpoint at Ganastan village and intercepted one person riding a Scooter bearing registration number DL13SH-0280. He has been identified as Parvaiz Ahmad Beig resident of Ganastan Sumbal. During checking, officers were able to recover 15kg’s of Charas powder from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to PS where he remains in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of the crime has also been seized. Accordingly, a case FIR No.14/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Sumbal and investigation has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
