Samoon chairs Steering Committee meet on STRIVE project

Jammu: Principal Secretary, Skill Development Department (SDD), Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon Monday chaired a meeting of UT Steering Committee for effective implementation of STRIVE project in Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting was attended by Director, Skill Development, Sajad Hussain Ganai; Principal, ITI Jammu; Managing Director, Jamkash vehicles Pvt Limited, President Chamber of Commerce Jammu; President Federation, Srinagar Industries while as representatives of GoI, Principals/Superintendents of Government ITIs Srinagar, Baramulla, Anantnag, Kishtwar, Ganderbal, Udhampur and Mendhar participated in the meeting through video conferencing.
The meeting discussed recommendation of Government ITIs, evaluated by UT –Project implementation Unit (UT-PIU) to the National Steering Committee (NSC) of Skill Strengthening For Industrial Value Enhancement (STRIVE) Project for release of funds under Result Area-1 and Action plan for utilization of funds under Result Area-2.
Speaking during the meeting, Principal Secretary, SDD, directed the concerned authorities to take necessary steps for implementation of the project so that the benefits of the project are percolated to youth and Industries at grass root level. He also directed them to tie up with the all stakeholders of Industrial sectors for inclusive growth of the Skill sector in entire Jammu and Kashmir.
During the meeting,Director, SDD, gave a detailed presentation about Skill Strengthening For Industrial Value Enhancement (STRIVE) project and informed the meeting that the objective of the project is to improve the relevance and efficiency of Skill Training provided through ITIs and other institutions.
It was also informed in the meeting that Jammu and Kashmir has been allotted six ITIs to participate in STRIVE Project for assessing and recommending the Institute Strategic Plan (ISP) of ITIs and proposals for Industry Apprenticeship Initiative (IAI) from Industry Clusters (ICs) for financing under the project.
The meeting also discussed reviewing and approving the Annual Work Plan and Budget (AWPB) of the UTPIU besides the work plan of six ITIs was also approved in the meeting.
