Advisor Baseer visits remote areas of distt Udhampur

Udhampur: To take the stock of various ongoing developmental works being executed in RDD, PDD and Tourism and other sectors in the district Udhampur, Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Ahmad Khan Monday conducted a daylong extensive tour of remote areas of Block Chenani of District Udhampur.
The Advisor was accompanied by Director Rural Development Department, Jammu, Sudershan Kumar; Chief Engineer PDD ,Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Syed Khan; Joint Director Tourism, NeelamKhajuria and other officers of concerned departments.
At Panchayat Lower Kud, Advisor Khan inaugurated the CD & Panchayat works executed in RDD sector besides he inspected IPDS works under taken by PDD at Chennai.
The Advisor issued on the spot instructions to officers of concerned departments to strictly adhere to quality specifications and ensure close monitoring for quality of works. He asked the construction agencies to put in their best efforts to achieve the targets within fixed timeframe.
Several delegations comprising of DDC, BDC, ULB members, Sarpanches, Panches besides general public of the area interacted with the Advisor during his visit.
BDC Chairman Chenani, Parkash Chand put forth various problems and demands like renovation and up gradation of Mall road Kud, Road connectivity between Karlah and Gori kund, Parking space at Patnitop, Promotion of village tourism, guest facility to be allowed to locals to boost the rural economy, Expedition of permission for construction of houses in area falling in the jurisdiction of PDA, Regularization of daily wagers , Inclusion of Left out beneficiaries under Awas plus Yojana, Construction of Panchayat ghar for new panchayats, Up gradation of PHC Latti to CHC, High density program, Black topping of road from SudhMahadev to Dudu, Establishment of Animal Husbandry centre at Tawi par area, Expedition of College work, Opening of J&K branch, Sanctioning of Degree College at Mantalai and other issues with tje Advisor.
President MC Chenani, Manik Gupta, projected several demands like hand over of PDC land at Chenani, Release of funds under My town my pride program, Up gradation of Girls High School Chenani to Higher Secondary School, Pendency of PMGSY works, Sanction of land for KV, Sanction of pension for widows under 40 years, Start of small scale industry in Chenani, Pending compensation of PMGSY roads and other related concerns with the Advisor.
While interacting with them, the Advisor said the main objective of conducting this visit was to review the progress and implementation of government schemes on the ground and to get feedback from the public. He issued on spot instructions to officers of concerned departments for completion of ongoing works within time frame. He said roads are the backbone of an area and goods road connectivity boosts the economy of the area.
At Sudhmahadev, Advisor Baseer Khan also interacted with DDCs, BDCs, PRIs and general public of the area and received on spot feedback from public regarding various schemes.
Speaking on the occasion, Advisor Khan said government has empowered PRIs by transferring them required funds and functions they must use their powers to monitor the ongoing developmental works and they must participate in planning and implementation of government schemes on the ground. He further added that PRIs are acting as bridge between Government and public and pace of development has increased in all sectors because of them.
While appreciating natural scenic beauty of the area, Advisor Khan said this area is under main focus of government and tourism circuit is under consideration for promotion of tourism. He further said every possible effort would be made to boost the pilgrimage tourism in the area for the overall development of the area.
Later, the Advisor visited International Yoga Centre Mantalai where he inspected the ongoing construction work of Yoga Centre and instructed the concerned agencies for its timely completion as this prestigious project which will boost the economy of this area.
