DIC Jammu hosts series of awareness progs on self-employment schemes

Jammu: District Industries Centre, DIC Jammu Saturday hosted series of awareness programs for unemployed youth on Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) and other self-employment schemes here at Philian Mandal [Satwari Block], Arnia (Arnia Block), Bishnah (Bishnah Block), Chakrohi (Suchetgarh Block).
The unemployed youth were encouraged to avail the loans and incentives under PMEGP and other schemes a being provided by State & central Government through Department of Industries and Commerce.
The awareness camp was organized on the directions of Commissioner/Secretary Industries and Commerce Manoj Kumar Dwivedi and guidance of Director I&C, Jammu, Anoo Malhotra by General Manager DIC Jammu, Subah Mehta.
During the camp, the prospective young entrepreneurs were informed about the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) scheme wherein loan up to Rs. 25.00 Lakh is provided for manufacturing units and Rs.10.00 Lakh for the Service Sector units.
The attendants were also apprised that general category male candidates are eligible for 15% subsidy in urban area and 25% in rural area, while Special category candidates (including SC/ ST/ OBC/ Minorities/Women, Ex-servicemen, Physically handicapped, etc.) are eligible for 25% subsidy in urban areas and 35% subsidy in rural areas.
The youth were also made aware about various industrial incentives available to them under the Industrial Development Scheme -2017 and New Industrial Policy, which was recently launched by Lt. Governor. They were informed about the procedure for availing incentives like Capital Investment Subsidy, Central Interest Subsidy and Central insurance Subsidy under IDS-2017.
Awareness about the State Freight Subsidy scheme was also given in the camp. The local people appreciated the efforts of the Industries and Commerce Department and called for holding more such awareness camps to generate awareness among masses at the grass-root level.
The programme was attended by BDC, chairperson Suchetgarh, Tarsem Singh, Ex-Minister Sham Lal Choudhary, Functional Manager, DIC Jammu, Arshad Noomani, Amit Dingra, Rajeshwar Singh and other officials and elected representatives of Rural Development Department.
