Samoon chairs SDD meeting to review skill targets for J&K Dev Mission under PMKVY

Jammu: Principal Secretary, Skill Development Department, (SDD), Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon, Wednesday convened a meeting with senior officers of SDD and National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to review the ‘Skill Targets for J&K Development Mission under Pradhan Mantri  Kaushal Vikas Yojna (PMKVY) 2.0 and 3.0’.

The meeting was attended by Director Skill Development, Sajjad Hussain Ganie; Director Finance Skill Development, Additional Secretary, Skill Development, Joint Director Planning, Skill Development while State Engagement Officer, NSDC Kehkashan Anjum and other concerned officers participated through video conferencing.

Principal Secretary impressed upon the officers to take effective measures for achieving the skill target and to make the scheme grand success in achieving set targets of employability in Jammu & Kashmir.

He emphasized upon them to optimally utilize the experience and knowledge of previous training programs so that maximum targets would be achieved. He asked them to focus on modern training modules so as to create skilled force as per the market demand.

Principal Secretary asked the concerned to track the aspirants after training is imparted to them so that they would continue and get employed which is the basic aim of the scheme.

Sajjad gave detailed report about registration and informed that of 24 ITIs, 10 centre’s registration process has been finalized and rest 14 would be completed soon. He also informed that the trade offered in this centre are electrician domestic appliance, self employed tailor, automobile technician, Travel Guide Field technician/ Air conditioner etc.

It was also informed that the department is going to train 700 aspirants besides the priority would be given to pre-learners and then drop-outs from colleges and higher secondary and other schools.
