6 drug peddlers arresyed in Srinagar and Budgam, Contraband substances recovered : Police

Srinagar: Police have arrested six drug peddlers in Srinagar and Budgam and recovered psychotropic and contraband substances from their possession.
A police statement issued on Tuesday said “ In Srinagar, officers at a checkpoint established at Garikadal Hamdanya Colony intercepted a vehicle Swift bearing registration No. JK01AK-2862 with three persons on board identified as Owais Ahmad Malik resident of Nundrish Colony Batamaloo, Furqan Ahmad Wani and Manzoor Ahmad Khan both residents of Hamdanya Colony Bemina Srinagar”, adding that “during checking, officers were able to recover 180 tablets of Tapentodol 75mg from their possession and after detention were shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized”.
Stating that a case FIR No. 13/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Parimpora and investigation has been initiated, police in it’s statement further said “In Budgam also, Officers from Police Station Budgam on a checkpoint established at New Buss Adda Budgam intercepted a vehicle Wagnor R bearing registration No. DL5CN-1322 with three persons on board identified as Arshid Ahmed Dar resident of Farishigund Dharmuna, Reyaz Hussain Mir resident of Main Budgam and Sajad Ahmed Bhat resident of Narkara Budgam.”
Claiming that during checking officers recovered 1.90 grams of heroin, 110 grams of Charas and 264 capsules of Sposmo-proxovan from their possession, police in it’s above referred statement said that the accused were arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
“A case vide FIR No.21/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Budgam and investigation has been taken up”, said the police statement.
Appealing people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood, Police in it’s statement warned that people nd indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law, stating there in that “actions against drug peddlers should reassure people about the actions taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace”.
