Critically ill diabetic patient airlifted from Gurez valley

B’Pora: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmed, critically Ill patient was airlifted from snowbound Gurez to Bandipora for immediate medical relief.
The district administration received an SOS from the family for evacuation of 50-year-old diabetic patient who was in conscience state owing to abnormally high Blood sugar level. The Deputy Commissioner immediately directed to arrange a special chopper to airlift the patient. Despite adverse weather conditions, the pilot managed to reach Gurez valley. “For about two hours the helicopter flew in air and couldn’t land owing to less visibility and adverse weather condition in Gurez. DC Bandipora was personally monitoring the operation and persuaded the pilot to wait and land so that a life can be saved”. Finally helicopter managed to land and the patient was rescued from the Gurez valley and was shifted to District Hospital Bandipora for treatment.
DC Bandipora appreciated the Pilot for the tireless effort in rescuing the patient and saving a life. The snow-clad Gurez valley remains cut off from the rest of the world during winters owing to heavy snowfall in the valley
