B’pora: Residents of Chandagi and Chahi-Mohalla in Aloosa area of North kashmir’s Bandipora district Saturday up in arms against district administration for failing to provide them potable drinking water.
The residents of villages told that some six years back a new water supply scheme was started for the area but was abandoned by the concerned authorities mid way, thus leaving the residents there to lurch at large.
The Villagers said authorities pay no heed to their grievance and have to fetch waters from other sources like wells and rivers to fill water for their daily household chores.
They said the shortage of water has caused great inconvenience to them in this harsh winter. “For the last one month we have been melting the snow here and then we would drink the same water, ” they added.
The residents appealed Deputy Commissioner(DC) Bandipora, Dr. Owais to intervene and redress their grievance.
