Domana (Jammu): Senior Vice President Apni Party Ghulam Hassan Mir Thursday demanded restoration of statehood to J&K. “The Government should restore Statehood to J&K as the anguish is growing among the people due to the absence of the elected Govt,” said Senior Vice President, Apni Party, Gh. Hassan Mir said. He was addressing a convention of the Schedule Caste Community in Muthi area and it was organized by SC State Coordinator Bodh Raj Bhagat.
On this occasion, General Secretary Vijay Bakaya, General Secretary Vikram Malhotra, Provincial President Jammu Manjit Singh, Provincial President Women Wing Namrta Sharma, OBC State Coordinator Madan Lal Chalotra and Ex-MLA Shopian and Former Minister Ghulam Hassan Khan, Media Coordinator Raqeeq Ahmed Khan were also present. In this convention, Mir was informed about the socio-economic condition of Schedule Caste in J&K. He expressed his serious concern over the plight of the downgraded people of the erstwhile State who feel disempowered.
“There is a general feeling of disempowerment among the people after the Statehood was snatched and J&K was downgraded into a Union Territory,” said Mir and appealed the Govt to hold assembly elections as early as possible. He said that the SC and OBC community need special attention of the Government in view of their backwardness and their localities lack development.
He said that the Apni Party has committed for the development of Domana assembly constituency as a whole without disparity. “Assembly elections should be held so that the people’s aspirations can be represented in the Govt. This time they feel they are being ruled by Delhi directly and they have no say in the law making,” he added.
