65 yr old SRTC building demolished in Sopore, EO MCS, Says “building was unsafe”

Sopore: Sixty five year old building of state Road transport corporation was on Thursday demolished by Municipal Council Sopore in apple town Sopore . Defending the demolition of the building the Executive Officer Municipal Council Sopore said that the building was unsafe.
Talking to Kashmir Horizon Executive officer Municipal Council Sopore Sammer Ahmad said “the building was unsafe and had outlived it’s utility. The land was already in our possession and the notice was served to SRTC before two weeks and now we demolished the building”.
At one time the State Road Transport Corporation had forty two buses for running the passenger services on different routes in district Baramulla but Sopore RTC office has now only four buses for providing passenger facilities to people on different routes in district Baramulla.
A well known business man at main Chowk Sajad Ahmad said “we all the traders of Sopore appeal to the LG led J&K Government to take action against the officials of State Road Transport Corporation responsible for the mess”
Executive officer of Municipal Council Sopore said, “it was the property of Sopore Municipal Council and the state road transport corporation yard was temporarily using the building”.
Haji Mohmad Abdullah Kababee a top businessman of Sopore appealed LG led J&K Government to allow the people to used the yard for car parking as there is no parking facility at main Chowk Sopore.
