Srinagar: Police on Friday claimed to have arrested a drug peddler in Srinagar and recovered contraband substance and cash from his possession.
Police spokesman in a statement issued here on Friday said that officers from Police Station Rainawari at a checkpoint established near Zindshah Masjid Rainawari, intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK01L-6924 with one person on board.
He has been identified as Reyaz Ahmad Sheikh of Andurni Kathidarwaza A/P Shungli Pora Srinagar.
“During checking, the officers were able to recover 140 grams of Charas and a cash amount of Rs 13,300 from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to a police station where he remains in custody,” police said.
Accordingly, police said that a case under FIR number 03/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Rainawari and further investigation has been initiated.
