Jammu: Kashmir- based physician and researcher, Dr.Tasaduk Hussain Itoo today said that the rising incidence of heart attacks among young people in Kashmir is becoming a serious health issue.
He said that it has become a serious issue of health concern in Kashmir during last couple of months and on daily basis multiple heart attacks happen landing many into sudden cardiac deaths. He said that adopting unhealthy routines like eating poorly, exercising less, or leaning more heavily on substances such as alcohol, smoking and drug abuse, could be the potential risks of heart diseases in general and heart attacks in particular. “However amid the Covid-19 pandemic, the incidence of heart attacks at home have increased and lead to various cardiac deaths– post covid heart related complications can be a factor of rising incidence of heart attacks”, he said. He further added that rising mental stress and depression among people could be a possible cause as research has shown that the inflammation caused by depression and other mental health issues can increase a personโs risk for a heart attack. He advised that people should constantly keep checking their blood pressure and blood sugar levels, monitor their cholesterol and triglyceride levels besides maintaining a healthy weight, eating a healthy diet, exercising regularly, avoiding smoking, alcohol consumption and refraining from drug abuse and unnecessary stress in their life.
