Jamu: Jammu Municipal Corporation has sealed 11 illegal structures in Marble Market, Sunjawan, Deeli (Bye-Pass Road), Durga Nagar and Bathindi areas.
As per JMC authorities, the structures, including 10 Commercial and one Residential buildings were sealed by the teams comprising the officers of Enforcement Wing of the Corporation to further intensify its drive against unauthorized constructions in Jammu City and its outskirts.
The action against the violators has been taken under the provisions of Section 8(1) of the Jammu and Kashmir Control of Building Operations Act, 1988, they said.
The Corporation authorities said that the Civic body has demolished/sealed a number of unauthorized constructions during the recent past in particular to desist the violators from raising the constructions without permission/in-violation of the approved building plans which causes impediment to the plan development of Jammu City.
The JMC further appealed to the general public to refrain from raising illegal construction and get building plans approved, ‘failing which action warranted under Jammu and Kashmir Control of Building Operations Act, 1988 and Jammu and Kashmir, Municipal Corporation Act,2000 will be taken against the violators including sealing and demolition of the illegal structures.’
