Srinagar : In continuation to it’s efforts to support the AWAAM of remote areas of Boniyar, Torna Battalion under the aegis of Pir Panjal Brigade organised a Health Check Up and Medical assistance camp along with a workshop on First Aid for the border villages of Chotali, Sumwali, Ghaggar Hill and Jabdi.

The initiative was based upon feedback taken during interaction with locals wherein they expressed their concern about lack of facilities for medical check up in remote areas in vicinity to Line of Control.  The efforts were directed by medical staff  to screen and make the AWAAM aware of Heart Ailments & Hypertension in the medical Camp. It also aimed to identify vulnerable individuals if any. Enthusiastic response was witnessed as 145 persons including 43 women attended the camp organised at Chautali and Ghaggar Hill.

The unit RMO conducted lecture on heart ailments, their prevention, how to give First Aid in case of heart attack and a general check up for hypertension. The villagers expressed their gratitude towards the Army for the initiative, since these areas remain cut off during winter months thus  denying imidiate medical assistance from the nearest health centres.
