Mandi(Poonch): Nehru Yuva kendra Poonch celebrates ‘National youth Day’and organises awareness programme on HIV/AIDS at Block Mandi on dated 19 January 2021.This programme was coordinated by *Mohd Adil* NYV from Nehru yuva kendra Poonch, Ministry of youth affairs and sports(Government of India) along with Hamdani Youth club Mandi and Global peace society Mandi.In his speech *Adil said,* HIV causes AIDS and interferes with the body’s ability to fight infections. The virus can be transmitted through contact with infected blood, semen or vaginal fluids.HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) is a virus that attacks cells that help the body fight infection, making a person more vulnerable to other infections and diseases.It is spread by contact with certain bodily fluids of a person with HIV, most commonly during unprotected sex (sex without a condom or HIV medicine to prevent or treat HIV), or through sharing injection drug equipment.If left untreated, HIV can lead to the disease AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome).In the Programme number of youths were participated from different areas of Block Mandi.Mohd Afraz acted as the Cheif resource person.He expressed his appreciation for the programme and the way it was organised.He said, HIV is a sexually transmitted infection (STI). It can also be spread by contact with infected blood or from mother to child during pregnancy, childbirth or breast-feeding. Without medication, it may take years before HIV weakens your immune system to the point that you have AIDS.There’s no cure for HIV/AIDS, but medications can dramatically slow the progression of the disease.
