LAWDA conducts demolition drive in Sgr areas

Srinagar: The Enforcement Wing of Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) Tuesday conducted demolition operations at Nowpora, Bagh-i-Roop Singh Miskeen Bagh, Chandpora Harwan and Saderbal areas of Srinagar city.
During the demolition drive, one basement, one shop, (one No) single storey, (Two No) second storeys, (one No) third storey, one Showroom and one wooden truss, raised illegally by the violators were demolished on the spot.
During the drive, the demolition squad faced stiff resistance at Nowpora and Bagh-i-Roop Singh Miskeen Bagh from the assembled crowd resulting in injuries to one demolition squad member namely Mehraj-ud-din Khanday.
Meanwhile, the public residing within the LDA jurisdiction and in lake are hereby directed not to go for any sort of illegal constructions / encroachments, without obtaining proper building permission from the competent authority.
It was given out that strict action in terms of conducting demolitions followed by lodging of FIR’s shall be taken against those who try to raise the constructions in the In-Lake / Green Belt areas (200mts).
