Exposure tours for PRIs:  4th batch of JK Sarpanchs leaves for Uttarakhand

Jammu: In continuation to the initiative of facilitating exposure visit of Panchayat Raj institution members to other states, the 4th batch of Sarpanchs from Jammu & Kashmir is leaving tomorrow for five day training cum exposure visit to state of Uttarakhad.

The purpose of the visit is to expose them to the best practices, to make them interact with the beacon leaders, learn about the implementation of the flagship schemes etc in the.

Director Panchayats, Rakesh Srangal and Director Rural Development, Jammu, Sudershan Kumar, held a brief interaction with the delegation before flagging off the 4th batch of the visiting Sarpanchs drawn from various Districts of Jammu & Kashmir from Panchayat Bhawan Jammu Monday. They exhorted upon the visiting Sarpanches to take maximum advantage of the field exposure tour so that the best practices learnt gets replicated in various Panchayats of J&K UT.

During the visit, the Sarpanches shall be exposed to various activities being carried out including Solid Liquid Waste Management, generation of Own Source Revenue, Preparation of Budget, Integration of labour budget under MGNREGA with GPDP and SDGs, Integration of Panchayat Development plans at various tiers, Panchayat Enterprise Suit applications etc.

Sarpanches of the previous batches who were sent to the exposure visit to Uttrakhand were also present on the occasion and shared their experiences with the visiting sarpanches of the 4th batch.

The Director Panchayats, J&K said this shall now be a continuous practice with regular batches visiting various States at regular intervals. He also said the Department had earlier only started this initiative in January-February, 2020 when the Sarpanches from Jammu & Kashmir visited Pune but the activities came to a halt after COVID.

Officials from the State of Uttrakhand Dr. Kanchan Negi,  Vidya Singh Somnal and   Mohit Choudhary, who were on the visit to UT of J&K in connection with training cum exposure visit, also interacted with the visiting sarpanchs. Director Rural Development Jammu wished the   sarpanchs a successful and fruitful visit and instructed them to follow all Covid protocols during the visit.
