Srinagar: Director Jammu & Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI), G.M. Dar on Monday chaired a review meeting at the Institute’s Bari Brahmana campus Jammu.
The Director JKEDI urged all the officers to strengthen their efforts to reach out to the educated youth of Jammu & Kashmir’s rural and urban areas. He stressed that reaching to grass root levels is imperative to create a sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem and encourage youth to opt for entrepreneurship as a first career choice.
During the review meeting, the progress made under different self-employment and entrepreneurship development schemes implemented by the Institute and other related issues were discussed threadbare. Senior officers and scheme in-charges of JKEDI for Jammu division attended the meeting. Kashmir division officers joined the meeting through a video conference from the Pampore campus.
The meeting decided that the Institute shall soon start training programs under the Himayat Self Employment Scheme (HSES) and National Minorities Development Finance Corporation (NMDFC) to help educated unemployed youth to establish their business ventures.
The Director also took a review of the financial health of the Institute, maintenance of proper records and recovery position under various schemes implemented by the Institute.
He urged the concerned officers to reach out to the beneficiaries who have availed soft loans from JKEDI under different schemes and stay connected with them to ensure proper handholding and follow-up. He exhorted all concerned officers to continue to strive to build on this and work with zeal and enthusiasm to create a start-up friendly ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir. The Institute has facilitated around 14000 business units till now.
