BCI announces exams centre for AIBE XV in Srinagar, exam to be held on January 24

New Delhi/Jan,17 : The Bar Council of India (BCI) has set up examination centre at Srinagar to enable aspiring lawyers to appear in the upcoming All India Bar Examination (AIBE) scheduled to be held on January 24. Jammu & Kashmir will now have two AIBE examination centres – one in Jammu the winter capital, and another in Srinagar the summer capital, said a media report quoting sources in the Bar Council of India (BCI).
Earlier, a petition was filed before the Jammu & Kashmir High Court by Advocate Parvaiz Ahmad, who sought the setting up of an AIBE examination centre at Srinagar. “The inclement weather has already wreaked havoc here and it will save the travel charges of hundreds of aspirants who desire to appear in AIBE examination if an exclusive examination centre is set up at Srinagar”, Ahmad had said in the petition. President J&K Apni Party Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari had also in a recent statement sought the setting up of an AIBE examination centre at Srinagar.
He also claimed that hundreds of law graduates from across Kashmir who want to avail a permanent license to practice are unable to go outside the Valley because of inclement weather, closure of national highway, and unaffordable air fares.
