RD&PR deptt appoints watchdogs for bringing efficiency in the deptt

Jammu: To ensure transparency and accountability in the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (RD&PR), two independent watchdogs have been appointed by the department to monitor and resolve issues and conflicts as well as to provide inputs to make improvement in the functioning of Rural Development Department.
Under MGNREGA, the Department of Rural Development has established Social Audit Unit under the control of Director, Social Audit. The Social Unit shall visit across Jammu & Kashmir and conduct social audits with active participation of the people. Besides building capacities of the Gram Sabha for conducting social audit by identifying, training and deploying suitable resource persons at villages, Blocks, districts and UT level.
The department has also engaged ombudsman in the department. The ombudsman shall listen to the complaint(s) of MGNREGA and resolve them to the best satisfaction of the applicant as well as complainants.
