Baramulla: While the restoration of essential services has attracted criticism and condemnation from people in politics and civil society in several districts of Kashmir, the on spot directions from Deputy Commissioner Dr G N Itoo over the restoration of essential services has won him accolades from the people of all shades in Baramulla.
A group of senior citizens of Baramulla told Kashmir Horizon “ issues that used to take days for the predecessors of the incumbent Dy Commissioner Dr G N Itoo in the times of heavy snowfall were this resolved on single telephone calls. People have got the respite without knocking the doors of the officers connected with the restoration of essential services after the recent snowfall in valley”.
A delegation of Awqaaf Committee from Khushhalpora Chinad comprising five members along with Chairman told Kashmir Horizon “ We brought to his notice some issues concerning restoration of essential services and in less than twelve hours the services were restored last week when heavy snowfall crippled normal life in valley”. They said “ intervention of deputy commissioner saw the officials of line departments including PDD,PHE , Rural development, Health, and Irrigation & Flood Control responding to the phone calls of even the laymen and touching down at their doorsteps for mitigating their sufferings during the recent snowfall . As far as we known such a quick response from Deputy Commissioner has been perhaps witnessed for the first time in Baramulla district”
