Restoration operation, Snow clearance carried out forthwith to avert any eventuality: DC G’bal

G’bal: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal Monday said the district administration worked as per a comprehensive plan formulated vis-à-vis restoration of essential services and to carry out snow clearance operations to restore normal life in the district.
While briefing the media regarding the status of restoration of essential services and road clearance operation in the district, the DC said following heavy Snowfall, the District Administration acted instantly and pressed into service all the available men and machinery to ensure restoration and minimum disruption of essential services to avert any eventuality in the district.
Regarding snow clearance operation, he said on day one, 70 percent roads were cleared on priority basis and it was ensured that 100 percent roads are cleared post snowfall.
While briefing about the restoration of electricity and water supply, the DC said all 57 feeders were restored on 8th January in the morning and few lift water supply schemes were partially damaged due to snow and frost in Kangan Sub-Division which were also resorted immediately and meanwhile water tanker service was also made available to the people.
Regarding health care services, he said from the day first of snow fall, adequate arrangements with regard to heating and other services were ensured in all health institutions of the district so that people visiting there may not suffer.
On availability of essential commodities like ration, gas, vegetable and petroleum, Iqbal said sufficient quantities of all essential commodities are available in the district. He said to control black marketing and hoarding of essential commodities special market checking drives were carried out in all the markets of the district.
The DC said the officers were given clear directions to take all requisite measures for mitigating the issues of the people besides they were also directed to ensure their presence at their concerned headquarters so that grievances of the people are redressed well on time.
He said for redressal of grievances, the district administration has put in place a comprehensive grievance redressal mechanism and round the clock district control room. So far, more than 300 grievances were received and were immediately forwarded to the concerned quarters for immediate redressal, he added.
