Claims about snow clearance not matching with ground position, people left at the mercy of situation : Hakeem

Srinagar/Jan,10 : Chairman Peoples Democratic Front (PDF ) Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen has slammed administration for its utter failure to deal with the situation arising out of recent snow fall in Kashmir division.
” More than a week has passed since snow fall, but snow clearance was yet to be completed on maximum roads all over the Kashmir division, causing great hardships to the people,” Hakeem said in a statement issued on Sunday. He has poohpooed the administration for its callous approach to deal with the situation arising out of recent snow fall.
” Administration has left the people to fend for themselves. This is not for the first time that the valley has witnessed snowfall. But surely this is for the first time that people of Kashmir have been left at the mercy of situation, ” Hakeem observed adding that snow fall in Kashmir was not a new thing . He said the way administration has been caught napping this time speaks volumes about callous attitude of the UT administration towards people’s problems. He said snow clearance from roads was going on at a snail’s pace causing great hardships to the people especially patients.He said most of the roads leading to main towns and villages across the Kashmir were closed as yet. He said administration was relying on mere media publicity and photo shows instead of acting aptly on the ground to redress grievances of the people.
Hakeem said that all the basic services especially in in rural areas continue to be disrupted adding that power, water supply and availability of essential commodities have been hit hard making peoples to suffer enormously. He said patients in various areas have become the first casuality as they were not able to reach upto health centers for treatment in absence of vehicular movement.
PDF Chairman has urged the administration to restore adequate supply of power,water and essential commodities in various areas of the valley adding that market checking squads need to be reactivated to check black marketeering and profiteering .
