Awantipora police arrests 2 drug peddlers, contraband substance recovered

Awantipora: Police in Awantipora have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession. Police in a statement said .
A police statement issued on Friday said “ officers at a check point established at Dogripora near Railway Crossing intercepted a vehicle (Alto) bearing registration number JK04D-4088 with two persons on board identified as Muntazir Ahmad Sheikh son of Ali Mohammad and Mohammad Yousuf Khan son of Mohammad Qasim Khan both residents of Gopalpora Budgam”. Stating that during checking, officers recovered 1.150 Kgs of contraband substance (Cannabis Sticks) from their possession, Police in it’s statement further said “they have been arrested and shifted to PS Awantipora where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized”.
The police in it’s statement also said that a case vide FIR No. 04/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Awantipora and further investigation has been initiated.
The police in the above referred statement has also appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood and warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law, saying that “actions against drug peddlers are part of efforts made to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace”.
