Kulgam: Police in Kulgam have arrested an accused person within one hour involved in wrongful confinement and sexual assault of a minor girl.
A police statement issued on Thursday said “Police Station Devsar received a written complaint from one person stating therein that a minor girl was confined wrongfully and assaulted sexually by one person namely Abdul Rehman Laway son of Abdul Aziz Laway resident of Malwan, when she was alone at her home”.
Stating that a case FIR No. 03/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Devsar and investigation was initiated, the police in it’s statement further said “during the course of investigation, a special team headed by SHO Devsar under the supervision of DySP Kulgam Aashaq Hussain acted swiftly on specific information and arrested the accused person within one hour after the complaint was filed. He has been shifted to PS Devsar where he remains in custody”.
The police in it’s statement also said that after fulfilling all medico-legal formalities, the minor girl was handed over to her legal heirs and investigation into the matter is in progress.
